Dental Hygiene Assistant
About The Position
As a Dental Hygiene Assistant, your primary focus is to ensure that every patient receives the highest standard of dental care in a calm, clean, and supportive environment. You’ll be an essential part of the clinical team—supporting hygienists and dentists with the tools, supplies, and setup needed to deliver exceptional care with minimal disruptions. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified or trained Dental Assistant with a current Oklahoma Dental Assistant permit
- Certifications: CPR, First Aid, Radiography, Coronal Polishing, and Hygiene Assistance
- Strong knowledge of dental procedures, terminology, tray setups, dental codes, and emergency protocols
- Proficient in using dental tools and technology (digital x-rays, intraoral camera, sterilization equipment, etc.)
- Infection control and sterilization experience
- Valid driver’s license required
- Patient-focused with a commitment to high-quality care
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Works well under pressure and adapts to changing needs
- Team player with a passion for learning and growth
- Able to sit, stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the day
- Manual dexterity, visual and auditory acuity required
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with patient transfers as needed
- Occasional exposure to biohazards, chemicals, and radiation
Responsibilities
- Provide chairside assistance to dental hygienists during cleanings and other hygiene services
- Support the clinical team by managing dental supply inventory in collaboration with Catalyst Purchasing
- Oversee the routine maintenance and cleanliness of all dental equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Minimize repairs through proactive care and regular upkeep of equipment
- Ensure compliance with universal precautions and all federal/state health and safety regulations, fostering a safe, hygienic work environment for patients and staff
- Assist with patient record management, scheduling, and materials handling
- Contribute to a positive patient experience—from welcome to walk-out
- Perform other duties as needed to support clinical operations
