About The Position
Cascades Job Corps is a residential Trade Program that serves underprivileged youth aged 16-24. The Dental Assistant position is a part-time role that reports to the Health & Wellness Director within the Health & Wellness department. The primary objective of this position is to assist the Center Dentist in providing dental services and promoting oral health and wellness among students. The Dental Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring that dental care is integrated with other health components and center activities, thereby enhancing the overall health education provided to the students. In this role, the Dental Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks including assisting the Center Dentist in providing preventative dental education, scheduling and maintaining the dental priority system, and ensuring compliance with OSHA requirements. The position also involves maintaining dental equipment and supplies, performing quality assurance record audits, and participating in the department's system for student feedback or concerns. The Dental Assistant will be expected to maintain accurate dental records and statistics, observe health and safety policies, and cooperate in investigations as needed. Additionally, the role requires adherence to various guidelines and policies, including those set by the Department of Labor and the Job Corps program. The Dental Assistant will also be responsible for modeling appropriate employability skills for students, helping them become more employable through continuous reinforcement, and participating in mandated staff training. The position requires effective communication skills, both written and oral, to present information clearly and concisely. The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and seek ways to improve service through professional development is also essential. Overall, this position is vital in supporting the dental health of students and contributing to their overall well-being and employability.
