About The Position

Assisting the Dentist(s) and Dental Hygienist(s) in the direct provision of primary care dental services to patients.

Requirements

  • Certification strongly preferred
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Requires a comprehensive knowledge of dental assisting techniques and procedures for all phases of general dentistry
  • Proficiency in four-handed dentistry a must
  • Knowledge of modern dental materials, their storage, handling and applications is required
  • Basic computer skills are a necessity and must include experience with a working knowledge of digital radiography and digital charting is preferred
  • Demonstrate an understanding of everyone’s experiences, every day
  • Ensuring the delivery of services that recognizes and respects that every moment matters

Responsibilities

  • Sterilization, preparation and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies
  • Data entry, assembling patient charts, patient registration, billing, verification of dental insurance and customer service
  • Open and closes dental clinic
  • Assists in the provision of high-quality care within the scope of service consistent with accepted standards of care for certified dental assistants
  • Prepares each operatory and patient for treatment
  • Exposing digital radiographs of good diagnostic quality
  • Provides active chairside assistance to the Dentist and anticipates the provider’s needs
  • Transfers instruments as appropriate for four-handed dentistry
  • At the conclusion of patient care, assists the patient, clears the work site and prepares for the next patient
  • Monitors the flow of laboratory cases
  • Monitors and records sterilization cycles
  • Maintains and inventories supplies
  • Helps to manage patient flow in clinic
  • Assists with dental charting as appropriate
  • Assists in the prevention and management of dental emergencies
  • Manages the patient during dental procedures
  • Takes impressions for study casts, and custom tray; performs laboratory procedures neatly and efficiently
  • Follows proper infection control protocols according to Tri-County’s Dental Policies and Procedure while meeting OSHA, CDC, and ADA standards
  • Performs monitors and records all sterilization activities
  • Disposing of and preparing "red bag waste" for pick up by waste removal
  • Maintains proper aseptic techniques necessary with dental equipment
  • Maintains and properly sterilizes instruments
  • Routinely cleans, disinfects and restocks operatory
  • Maintains and inventories dental supplies and reorders as necessary; tracks and verifies invoices
  • Assisting with Receptionist duties as needed
  • Participating in continuing education programs, including one (1) annual training program on compliance with OSHA's Blood borne Pathogen Standard
