Open Door is currently seeking a Dental Assistant for its Saugerties, NY location to assist in the provision of dental services. The Dental Assistant performs a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties (Assisting the dentist, preparing patients for treatment, taking x-rays, scheduling dental appointments). Candidates are expected to travel between sites if necessary, but no more than 20% of the time. As an Open Door employee, you would be eligible to participate in Open Door's Retention Bonus Plan, which pays a quarterly bonus of $750, beginning the first quarter following 3 months of employment, as long as you remain an active employee in good standing. Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • 1 year of Dental assistance experience required.
  • Superior customer service skills and experience
  • Flexible and solutions-driven.
  • Responsive and comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment with different types of providers.
  • Passionate about providing high-quality care to low-income, underserved residents and those lacking access to health care.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Engage in learning and continuous quality improvement.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communications, with a culturally diverse patient and staff population

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides chair-side assistance when necessary during dental treatment
  • Assures that the dental record, medical record, and encounter form are available for the dentist or dental hygienist
  • Prepares patient for examinations and treatment, including placement of bib and instruments for procedure
  • Maintains supplies and instruments in all dental procedures
  • Performs laboratory and X-ray tasks under the supervision of a dentist
  • Make appointments for patients.
  • Verifies the need for return appointments
  • Greets visitors and patients in a courteous, prompt, and friendly manner
  • Determines their needs, checks appointments, and gives appropriate information
  • If Designated as responsible for Bio Hazardous Waste removal, complete online training and receive a certificate before completing this task.
