About The Position

Family Centers is seeking a caring, energetic and well-organized Certified Dental Assistant to join our team. Family Centers Health Care, a FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center), provides primary healthcare, dental, and mental health services to children and adults living in Greenwich and Stamford with an emphasis on the special population living in or near public housing.   The Role As a Dental Assistant with our team, you’ll be a vital partner in advancing community health through compassionate, high‑quality preventive oral care. This full-time position (40 hours/week) has the following work schedule: Mon/Weds/Thurs/Fridays: 8:00am – 5:00pm; Tuesdays: 10:00am - 7:00pm.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Business Institute Certificate
  • Certification from accredited dental assisting program
  • DANB Radiation Health and Safety X-ray certification
  • DANB’s Infection Control Certificate (Pass exam within two months of hire)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bilingual Spanish
  • Computer proficiency

Responsibilities

  • Prepare exam rooms, preparing instruments and materials and monitoring and updating charts
  • Assist the Dentist chair-side at all times, including passing and receiving of instruments, oral evacuation and retraction and preparation of materials
  • Take x-rays under direction of Dentist
  • Organize treatment room for each patient, including instruments, records, radiographs, and lab work
  • Conduct blood pressure and health history information as needed
  • Disinfect treatment room and operate equipment in accordance with OSHA, ADA and CDC infection control guidelines
  • Audit supplies monthly and document what is needed
  • Maintain and monitor laboratory procedures and cases
  • Disinfect and sterilize instruments according to CDC/OSHA/ADA standards
  • Change dental solutions as outlined in manufacturers guidebook and maintains record manual
  • Responsible for equipment care and maintenance
  • Record treatment plans and periodontal charting into the dental / medical record
  • Scan informed consent forms, referral forms, and other related forms into the dental/medical record
  • Update MSDS book and Q.A. manual
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Health Center Director or Dentist
