Job Summary: The Dental Assistant prepares and maintains patient charts, sterilizes and sharpens dental instruments and maintains equipment. This position is also responsible for scheduling and referral coordination and maintaining supply inventories.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of general principles of dentistry and advanced knowledge of dental hygiene.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to speak English and Spanish preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • X-ray certification.
  • New Hires are required to pass pre-employment background check and drug testing (effective 11/1/2022).
  • Current Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card or must pass fingerprint clearance within 7 days following hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or the successful completion of a recognized vocational program in dental hygiene.
  • 2+ years of Pediatric or General Dentistry Assistant experience.
  • Coronal Polishing certification.
  • Spanish Bilingual Assistant certification.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares treatment area and escorts patients to the treatment area.
  • Assists dentist and dental hygienist with services as directed.
  • Develops and mounts dental x-rays.
  • Maintains dental equipment and sharpens and sterilizes dental instruments.
  • Provides clinical services or health education to improve and maintain the oral health of patients.
  • Performs front office duties, including, but not limited to, reception, phone calls, electronic record maintenance, processing referrals, scheduling appointments, managing inventory, and ordering dental equipment and supplies.
  • Practices universal precautions and proper infection control.
  • Abides by all PPE standards for clinical staff.
  • Attends, participates, and/or assists in meetings, trainings, community outreach activities, continuing education opportunities, and other activities as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
