About The Position

Jessie Albert Dental and Orthodontic Center (JADOC) in Bath, Maine is a well-respected clinic with over 40 years of experience in the community. We are committed to the mission of Catholic Charities Maine to bring help & hope to Maine’s most vulnerable. We now have an opening for a Full-Time (4 days per week) Dental Assistant. We are looking to hire someone who will make this a career and join our team of dedicated professionals. The Dental Assistant provides chair-side assistance to the Dentist. Primary Responsibilities: To perform clinical services under the general supervision of the Dentist. Greet and seat patients. Review all drugs the patient may be taking. Take and record the vital signs of blood pressure and pulse. Prepare and maintain dental instruments, supplies, and equipment. Sterilize instruments. Ensure proper clinical sterilization practices as indicated by OSHA and the office manual procedures. Preparation of dental materials and appointment procedural setups. Provide nutrition and dental health counseling as necessary. Give oral health instructions and perform dietary analysis for dental disease control. Retract lips, cheek, tongue, and other tissue parts. Irrigate and aspirate the oral cavity. For instruction purposes, demonstrate how the patient should place and remove removable prostheses, appliances, and retainers. Take and pour impressions.

Requirements

  • Will enjoy working with children and adults in a fast-paced environment and have good people, organizational, and lab skills.
  • Must have good fine motor skills and dexterity.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must have a minimum of a high school diploma.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Maine certification in Radiography.
  • Experience in a dental office is preferred, but exceptions can be made for the right candidate that shows excellent didactic and clinical skills.
  • Experience with Dentrix and/or Dolphin a plus!
