About The Position

NaphCare is hiring a Dental Assistant to join their team of medical professionals at the Limestone Correctional Facility in Harvest, AL. As a Correctional Dental Assistant, you will work alongside correctional officers and other dental professionals to provide dental care to incarcerated individuals. This position operates within a controlled environment where security is a top priority, offering a variety of engaging duties. It is a unique opportunity to make a difference for a diverse patient population with complex medical and dental needs. Requirements

• Completion of a one or two-year dental assistant program at a vocational school or community college
• Maintain the proper training and unrestricted certification as a Dental Assistant
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Be able to obtain CPR certification
• Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
• Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
• Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Responsibilities

• Coordinating dental services and assisting Dentist with patient care, instruments, supplies, documentation and supporting the function of the dental department
• Assisting Dentist during treatment by providing instruments, materials, retraction or suction
• Ensuring all dental equipment properly maintained and in good working order and the dental suite is clean and well-stocked
• Sterilizing and disinfecting equipment and tools
• Assisting in triage, dental sick call requests, scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and performing other administrative tasks
• Explaining dental procedures and oral hygiene practices to patients
• Taking and developing x-rays, assisting with dental laboratory function
