About The Position

Join the dedicated team at Chestnut Family Dental as a Dental Assistant , where you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality dental care. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about working in an integrated health setting and who wants to serve those who are in the underserved community. You will assist dentists during procedures, manage dental records, and ensure that every patient receives excellent care. Chestnut Health Systems is a leading provider of integrated health care services. Since 1973, Chestnut has grown to almost 800 committed, compassionate employees providing substance use, mental health, and primary care treatment to patients in Illinois and Missouri. We provide fully integrated care for all our patients by combining behavioral health care services with our community-based primary care health centers. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least one year of clinical dental assisting experience is preferred, with exposure to general dentistry and working with patients of all ages.
  • Basic computer literacy, including electronic dental records and digital x-rays.
  • Excellent communication, organizational skills, and a friendly demeanor are essential.
  • Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain.

Nice To Haves

  • Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Certification, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients with check-ins and check-outs; escort patients to exam rooms, gather health history, and take vitals.
  • Schedule appointments, take phone messages, and handle insurance paperwork.
  • Prepare patient charts and obtain necessary records for appointments.
  • Prepare and sterilize treatment rooms, ensuring all necessary instruments are in place.
  • Assist the dentist in procedures.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene and the importance of dental care.
  • Ensure compliance with HRSA, Joint Commission, and other accrediting bodies.
