Dental Assistant – FCC-Pollock Work Location Bureau of Prisons Federal Correctional Complex-Pollock 1000 Airbase Road Pollock, LA 71467 Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquiries, Fingerprints, and Drug Screen. Type of Employment: 40 hours per week Estimated Period of Performance: Estimate Pay: $18.24 – 23.33. Paid Time Off per Year: Up to 80 hours per year, occurring on day one. Sick Leave per Year: Up to 56 hours per year, occurring on day one. Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (11) Paid Federal Holidays Working Hours The Dental Assistant will normally work Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break, except on Federal holidays. The Dental Assistant will not work more than 40 hours a week. Summary of Duties The Dental Assistant Will perform all duties in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the field of dental assistant services, and in compliance with all Federal and State policy and regulations. The Dental Assistant will assist the dentist during dental procedures and help maintain accountability and instrument sterilization standards of care. Qualifications Must have specialty training from a licensed dentist and/or certification from an accredited Dental Assistant school. Training must include dental radiology and radiology safety. Completion of a full-expanded dental assistant program approved by the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry. Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience providing Dental Assistant services. Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified either by the American Red Cross (ARC)or the American Heart Association (AHA). Bilingual oral communication skills and experience in a clinical correctional setting are desirable but not required. Copies of all certifications and resumes must be forwarded with your application. Attire The Dental Assistant must dress appropriately for the work environment. This includes business attire or scrubs (black and blue scrub uniforms are approved). The attire must be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employee will be performing. Jeans (of any color), T-shirts, sandals (of any type), tank tops, and sweatpants/shirts are not considered appropriate professional attire. Federal Correctional Complex-Pollock will not be responsible for providing a uniform allowance.
