About The Position

We are seeking Dental Assistants to join our team! Rocking Horse Community Health Center (RHCHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides healthcare services to some of the area’s most vulnerable populations. With the opportunity of growth expansion of our dental services, the organization is looking for Dental Assistants to join the Dental Team Group. Individuals will be responsible for assisting the Dental Practice Manager and Dentists in the care and treatment of the patient. Perform duties independently and other duties according to certification authorization. Position Info: Position Title: Dental Assistants Primary Service Center: Springfield, Ohio FLSA Status: Non-Exempt – Hourly position. Hourly rate range is $17.00/hour to $24.00/hour depending on experience. Work Hours: Monday thru Thursday – the dental office is closed on Friday.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED and successful completion of ADA and/or OH DAII program preferred.
  • Previous dental assisting experience and X-ray certification preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and patients.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment is required.
  • Bi-lingual language capability is a plus.
  • High school graduate.
  • Current CDA Certificate issued by DANB, OCDAC, or equivalent.
  • Current license to practice dental radiography in State of Ohio.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff. Also possesses an ability to motivate patients.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain charts, records, logs, and reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, customers and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variable sin standardized situations.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

  • Must demonstrate an understanding of the role of Federally Qualified Health Centers as a safety net for all persons without regard for their ability to pay for services; appreciate patient-centered care in a medical home; and be committed to quality, comprehensive services through a team approach.

  • Staff is required to understand the privacy policies and procedures.
  • Patient Health Information (PHI) is confidential, only the minimal amount of PHI necessary to accomplish the internal purpose is to be shared or released by staff.
  • Moves in and out of exam rooms, front office, exam rooms, hallways and waiting room. Spends a good portion of the day on feet.
  • Some bending and stooping required.
  • Requires lifting up to 50 pounds. Over 50 pounds requires assistance.
  • Requires manual dexterity to maneuver for operating office equipment.
  • Visual activity required to respond and react to client observations and to physical changes while assisting with clinic tasks.
  • Eye and hand coordination and finger dexterity needed for entering data and reviewing software.
  • Must be able to read and generate written communication and documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, providers, peers, supervisor or other collaborative community agencies.

Nice To Haves

  • Board certified in Coronal Polishing in State of Ohio preferred.
  • Board certified in the placement of pit and fissure sealants in the State of Ohio preferred.
  • Certification in nitrous oxide-oxygen minimal sedation monitoring preferred.
  • Previous dental assisting experience in pediatric dentistry for at least 2 years preferred.
