About The Position
The Dental Assistant plays a critical role in supporting dental professionals to deliver high-quality oral health care services at Anacostia HC-105. This position ensures efficient patient flow by preparing treatment rooms, assisting during dental procedures, and managing patient records with precision. The Dental Assistant is responsible for maintaining strict infection control and sterilization protocols to uphold patient safety and clinic hygiene standards. By effectively communicating with patients and dental staff, the assistant helps create a compassionate and comfortable environment for all patients. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the overall success of the dental care team by combining technical expertise with excellent patient care.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program.
- Certification in Infection Control and Sterilization procedures.
- Proficiency in dental terminology and clinical dental assisting techniques.
- Experience using Dentrix or similar dental practice management software.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide compassionate patient care.
Nice To Haves
- Previous work experience in a dental clinic or healthcare setting.
- Certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or equivalent.
- Additional training in patient education and communication.

Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize dental treatment rooms and instruments prior to patient appointments.
- Assist dentists during various dental procedures by handing instruments and materials as needed.
- Perform sterilization and infection control procedures to ensure a safe clinical environment.
- Manage patient records and appointment scheduling using Dentrix software to maintain accurate documentation.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions with compassion and clarity.
- Monitor and maintain dental supplies inventory to ensure availability of necessary materials.
- Adhere to body motion techniques to reduce physical strain and maintain ergonomic safety during procedures.
