About The Position

Collaboratively provides a wide variety of closely coordinated, interdependent patient centered oral health care services. This includes chair side assisting, clerical duties, including scheduling and answering the telephone and accommodative services with the dental manager, dental hygienists, dentists, dental residents and others pursuant to objectives, policies and protocols of St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center, the Primary Care Centers and the Dental Office.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of dental assisting school or equivalent work experience required.
• Courses should include dental/medical terminology, radiology, updated infection control guidelines, communication skills, grammar, and basic computer skills.
• Working knowledge of dental terminology and care and operation of dental equipment and supplies.
• Good communication, organizational and time management skills.
• Requires long periods of concentration.

Nice To Haves

• Certification in dental assisting (CDA) and New York State licensure is desirable.
• Minimum of one year experience as an assistant in a general dental practice or health care agency is preferred.
