About The Position

The Dental Assistant (DA), under the supervision of the Professional Registered Nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse, and/or the Physician, provides age-appropriate, culturally and ethnically sensitive care, maintains a safe environment, collects information, communicates effectively, and utilizes technology. Performs patient care tasks and selected therapies as delegated by a licensed professional. The role of the DA also includes patient advocacy, teaching and performance improvement. The DA functions in the ambulatory settings, such as Specialty Clinics and Neighborhood Health Centers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Successful completion of a Dental Assistant Program or its equivalent is required.
  • 0 to 3 years of experience as a Dental Assistant is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide age-appropriate and culturally sensitive care to patients.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Collect patient information and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
  • Utilize technology in patient care tasks.
  • Perform patient care tasks and selected therapies as delegated by licensed professionals.
  • Advocate for patients and participate in teaching and performance improvement activities.
