About The Position
The Dental Assistant position at the University of Minnesota's Graduate Prosthodontics Clinic involves providing essential chairside assistance to faculty, residents, and undergraduate students in a clinical setting. The role requires the assistant to support various clinical services for patients at the School of Dentistry, including assisting with implant surgeries and maintaining surgical instruments and kits. The assistant will also be responsible for preparing and maintaining operatories and instrument setups for assigned residents during each clinic session, ensuring that the clinical x-ray area is well-maintained, and performing daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning and maintenance of the Graduate Prosthodontic Clinic area and surgical suite. Additionally, the assistant will assist with patient consultation appointments, including setup and cleanup, and will demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and protocols, including the use of emergency equipment. The position requires effective communication with diverse populations and the ability to multitask in a dynamic work environment. The assistant will also be responsible for ordering and maintaining adequate stock of dental supplies needed in both clinical and lab areas. This role is crucial in supporting the educational mission of the School of Dentistry, which serves as a regional resource for dental education and patient treatment across multiple states. The assistant will play a vital role in ensuring that the clinic operates smoothly and that patients receive high-quality care.
