About The Position

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Dental Assistant III within the Pediatric Dentistry Department at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine ( RSDM ). Under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor, the Dental Assistant III will support the department by providing clinical assistance for the Department of Pediatric Dentistry / Special Care Treatment Center. New Jersey’s academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences ( RBHS ) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Aligned with Rutgers University–New Brunswick and collaborating university wide, RBHS includes eight schools, a behavioral health network, and five centers and institutes that focus on cancer treatment and research, neuroscience, advanced biotechnology and medicine, environmental and occupational health, and health care policy and aging research. Nice To Haves

  • Prior Dental Assistant experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual is a plus. (English/Spanish/Portuguese etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a Dental Assistant to assist Faculty and Postgraduate Students with patient care, set up and stock units daily to avoid delays in patient care.
  • Reports equipment malfunction or breakdown to Clinical Supervisor.
  • Transports instruments to/from sterilization in accordance with the RSDM Infection Control policy and protocol.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by adhering to RSDM infection control policy and departmental protocol.
  • Assists with the ordering of supplies as needed.
  • Ensures patients are seen in a timely and efficient manner, and maintains patient confidentiality.
