Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred, but not required
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Previous dental assisting experience preferred, but not required
  • Ability and willingness to learn and expand professional skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with patients and team members
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately
  • Ability to motivate and engage patients effectively
  • Ability to prepare and maintain charts, records, logs, and reports
  • Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance required
  • Must successfully complete background checks, including criminal, driving, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint screenings
  • Must provide evidence of being free from infectious or contagious diseases, including TB, prior to employment and annually thereafter
  • Perform sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and negligible force frequently
  • Engage in repetitive hand, finger, and arm movements for clinical tasks and documentation
  • Sit for extended periods with occasional walking or standing during the workday

Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists and hygienists with chairside procedures in a general dental practice setting
  • Prepare patients, instruments, materials, and equipment for dental procedures
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment through proper sterilization and equipment maintenance
  • Accurately document patient information, treatments, and clinical notes in patient records
  • Support patient comfort by providing compassionate, attentive, and respectful care
  • Manage and maintain dental supplies, materials, and inventory levels
  • Identify and communicate patient medical or social concerns as appropriate
  • Follow established dental standards and guidelines set forth by the American Dental Association, Missouri Dental Board, and the National Network of Oral Health Access
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support clinic operations
