About The Position

This position is a federal role that requires candidates to demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties associated with the position. Experience can include both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer work through National Service programs and other organizations. Candidates must clearly identify their duties and responsibilities in their resume, including the total number of hours worked per week. The position involves support duties to medical or health personnel, and candidates must meet specific educational and experience requirements based on the grade level they are applying for, ranging from GS-04 to GS-07.

Requirements

  • For GS-04: 1 year of general and specialized experience or 2 years of education above high school.
  • For GS-05: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-04 or a full 4-year course of study.
  • For GS-06: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05.
  • For GS-07: Specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited institute is required for GS-05, GS-06, or GS-07.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a family medicine-oriented medical facility.
  • Ability to perform advanced clinic procedures.
  • Experience with high-risk patients and specialized medical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist medical personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists.
  • Answer medical office telephones and receive patients.
  • Utilize electronic health records and obtain vital signs for patients.
  • Prepare and restock exam rooms, ensuring cleanliness.
  • Administer age-appropriate vaccines and assist in laboratory specimen collection.
  • Coordinate patient care plans and manage referrals for chronic patients.
  • Participate in telehealth clinics and ensure patient preparation.
