Expanded Functions Dental Assistant – EFDA – Dental Assistant - Lafayette, IN About Farabee Family Dental Farabee Family Dental, like each Heartland Dental supported office, is unique to the community and the patients they serve. Benefits: Medical, prescription drug and vision insurance Free dental services for yourself and your dependents minus lab fees Life and disability insurance 401(K) retirement plan 6 paid holidays annually (after 90 days of employment), 2 weeks paid vacation (after one year of employment) Continuing education provided and endless growth opportunities More about the role Greet and welcome patients from the start of their dental journey, as well as sustain patient comfort and provide appropriate education throughout treatment Conduct a thorough review of the patient’s health history in order to provide quality care Take and process x-rays and other diagnostic assessments (iTero 3D scanner, digital photography, etc.) Provide superior chairside assistance (i.e., four-handed dentistry) to supported dentists during a wide variety of procedures in accordance with the state dental practice act Utilize Dentrix for patient scheduling and record keeping Prepare treatment room with strict adherence to safety protocols and following OSHA & CDC recommendations Manage supply and inventory levels, as well as place and expedite orders as needed Partner with the providers and team to implement Heartland Dental systems and maximize office workflow
Requirements
- As an Expanded Duties Dental Assistant, you must have a positive and outgoing personality, exceptional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills, excellent patient care skills and strong organizational skills.
- Superior working knowledge of dental procedures and terminology
- Ability to build rapport with patients
- Good manual dexterity
- Computer proficiency and the ability to learn new programs
- Ability to travel at least once every other month for training, occasionally overnight
Nice To Haves
- Dental assisting school certificate is a plus
- Previous work experience in a dental practice is a plus
