About The Position

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent for GS-02.
  • 6 months of general experience for GS-03.
  • 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience for GS-04.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-04 for GS-05.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05 for GS-06.
  • Successful completion of a dental assistant or dental hygiene program accredited by the American Dental Association for higher GS levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in dental assistance to general or specialized dentistry.
  • Completion of a 1-year or 2-year dental assistant program.
  • Practical nurse training approved by the appropriate accrediting body.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, polish, and oil dental equipment.
  • Sterilize instruments using autoclave and dryclave techniques.
  • Prepare sterile trays, packs, and sutures.
  • Schedule and route patients for services.
  • Assist dentist during oral examinations and restorative treatments.
  • Operate dental X-ray equipment and develop radiographs.
  • Maintain supply levels and cleanliness of the dental station.
  • Instruct patients in preventive dental care.
