About The Position

This position is a federal role that requires candidates to demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties associated with the job. Experience can include both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer work through National Service programs such as the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps. Candidates will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part-time work. It is essential to clearly identify the duties and responsibilities held in each position and the total number of hours worked per week. The position falls under the Individual Occupational Requirements for GS-0661, which includes specialized experience gained in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, or pharmaceutical firms or laboratories. Candidates must have a basic knowledge of pharmaceutical nomenclature, characteristics, strengths, dosage forms, and various procedures involved in the care, storage, repackaging, bulk compounding, and distribution of pharmaceuticals.

Requirements

  • At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service
  • Experience in filling prescriptions, distributing pharmaceuticals, and utilizing pharmacy-based computer systems
  • Experience in pharmaceutical procurement and inventory management
  • Completed one (1) year (18 semester hours) of graduate education directly related to the position (if applicable)
  • Possess a combination of education and experience that meets the minimum qualifications for the position

Responsibilities

  • Filling prescriptions utilizing automated dispensing equipment
  • Distributing pharmaceuticals
  • Utilizing pharmacy-based computer systems
  • Performing pharmaceutical procurement and inventory management
  • Evaluating, analyzing, and coordinating work activities to meet workflow demands
  • Independently gathering and analyzing data to generate reports for projects/statistical purposes
  • Training new employees and other pharmacy staff
  • Operating and maintaining specialized pharmacy equipment
  • Performing pharmaceutical procurement and formulary management
