The Dental Assistant coordinator is responsible for making appointments, filing paperwork, and handling billing for the company. Additionally, the dental assistant coordinator would be responsible for greeting patients when they walk in the door and providing a warm, professional face for the office. To perform this job well, the dental assistant coordinator would need to possess strong interpersonal skills, have a professional appearance, and have basic skills with computers. General functions include having the ability and willingness to motivate and empower those involved in all program activities, being capable of working independently and as a team member, possessing problem-solving skills, being able to establish effective working relationships, balancing team and individual responsibilities, exhibiting objectivity and openness to others’ views, giving and welcoming feedback, contributing to building a positive team spirit, being willing to accept and work within the agency philosophy, following agency policies and procedures, manifesting professional and personal ethics, having good communication skills, self-motivation and ability to maintain concentration and flexibility with regard to fast changes in task assignments as well as multiple task assignments, having a working knowledge and experience using standard office equipment, demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness and monitoring own work to ensure quality, volunteering readily, asking for and offering help when needed, working when scheduled, beginning and ending work as expected, calling in according to the policy when arriving late for work or when absent, observing provisions of Fair Labor Standards Act, observing policies on lunch periods and using work time appropriately, having a commitment to Catholic values and supporting the tenants of Catholic Social teaching, having the ability to set and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients and staff, having the flexibility to accept a variety of tasks, being capable of remaining calm when faced with conflicting demands and in emergency situations, being considerate, empathetic, and respectful in a non-judgmental manner to all patients, volunteers, and staff members, having time-management, organizational, and planning skills, being capable of articulating Catholic Charities’ program to the community, possessing sensitivity to cultural differences in the service population, staff, and volunteers, and having the ability to forge working relationships, and having knowledge of all agency, diocesan, state, and/or federal regulations.
