About The Position
The Academy for Dental Assistants is offering a series of certification courses for dental assistants looking to enhance their skills and obtain necessary certifications in Florida. These courses are designed for both on-the-job trained dental assistants and those coming from out of state who need to acquire their Florida Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) and Dental Radiology Certifications. The EFDA/X-ray Combo Course is a one-day certification program that combines both certifications into a single day of training, priced at $900. Additionally, there are individual courses available, including the EFDA Certification Course for $600 and the Dental X-Ray Certification Course for $350. The courses are approved by the Florida Board of Dentistry and are structured in a blended format, consisting of an online instructional portion followed by a hands-on clinical portion conducted in-person at the facility. Classes are held monthly, and participants are required to have a minimum of three months of experience in the dental field. For those interested in orthodontics, a 6-week Orthodontic Dental Assistant Training Course is available for $900, aimed at training individuals in the basics of being an Orthodontic Dental Assistant or expanding the skills of existing dental assistants. This course requires prior experience and is limited to a maximum of eight students per class. Additional refresher courses are offered, including a Temporary Crown and Bridge Refresher Course for $300, which focuses on hands-on training for fabricating temporary crowns and bridges, and a Dental X-Ray Refresher Course for $195, which refreshes techniques for taking various types of dental x-rays. These refresher courses are designed for individuals with prior experience and do not provide certification but serve as valuable training opportunities.
