Function/Duties of Position The Dental Assistant Advanced, under the supervision of a licensed dentist, provides chair side assistance to dentists, dental or graduate students, interns and residents, dental hygienists, or dental technicians. May also perform clinical support duties such as appointment scheduling, billing, and maintaining patient records. Provides dental assisting in an advanced specialty program or faculty provider practice or clinic. This position will be located at the OHSU Russell St. Dental Clinic, 214 N. Russell St. Portland, OR 97227. Working shift is 7:30AM-4:30PM

Requirements

  • Completion of an approved Dental Assistant training program
  • Two years' experience as a chair side Dental Assistant in an Advanced Specialty OR Three years' experience as a chair side Dental Assistant in an Advanced Specialty
  • Certification by the Oregon State Board of Dentistry for Radiological Proficiency required for all positions
  • Advanced specialty dental assisting may require EFDA, EFODA, DAANC, dental anesthesia certification or other sedation/surgical advanced certifications, skills.
  • Current valid Basic Life Support (BLS) card required that has been issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) required for all positions
  • Must have worked as a dental assistant in an advanced specialty within the last 5 years
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
