About The Position

Delivery Services Manager / Dispatch Coordinator ABC Supply, the nation’s largest wholesale distributor of exterior and interior building materials, is seeking a Delivery Services Manager to lead delivery operations, coordinate routing and fleet readiness, and support overall branch performance. This role functions as the branch’s primary operational leader after the Branch Manager, ensuring efficient, safe, and customer‑focused execution across delivery, warehouse, and internal coordination. Position Overview The Delivery Services Manager oversees all delivery‑related activities while contributing to broader branch operations. This includes scheduling and routing, driver communication, equipment readiness, fleet maintenance, safety, customer updates, and coordination with warehouse and inside sales teams. As the branch’s second‑in‑command, the Delivery Services Manager is expected to develop proficiency in all major operational processes—delivery, warehouse flow, inventory movement, customer service workflows, compliance, and daily branch procedures—to ensure seamless operational coverage and consistent service quality.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven leadership experience in logistics, transportation, warehousing, or similar operational fields.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment while remaining calm and solution‑oriented.
  • Knowledge of safe delivery procedures and vehicle safety requirements
  • Experience with dispatching, routing, or coordinating maintenance is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data entry.
  • Ability and willingness to learn all major branch functions and support multiple teams.

  • Mechanical knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery & Routing Management Schedule and route daily product deliveries based on job‑site requirements, customer timing needs, and available equipment.
  • Ensure all loads meet safety requirements and legal weight limits.
  • Assign appropriate trucks and crews to each delivery.
  • Resolve routing challenges and make real‑time adjustments as needed throughout the day.
  • Customer Communication Keep customers informed of delivery windows, delays, or changes
  • Communicate clearly about job‑site conditions, expectations, and any issues requiring follow‑up Work closely with inside sales to align delivery timing with customer needs.
  • Fleet & Equipment Oversight Coordinate all equipment inspections, fleet maintenance, and repairs; ensure proper documentation is completed.
  • Monitor vehicles for required safety equipment and coordinate replacements or upgrades.
  • Track certification and license requirements for all drivers, ensuring compliance is always current.
  • Safety & Compliance Leadership Conduct regular safety meetings with delivery and warehouse teams.
  • Reinforce best practices related to vehicle safety, job‑site safety, loading procedures, and equipment use.
  • Ensure adherence to company safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Operational Coordination Collaborate with warehouse staff to verify load accuracy, staging, order readiness, and inventory movement.
  • Assist inside sales, warehouse, and delivery teams in resolving logistical challenges.
  • Maintain essential supplies for warehouse and delivery operations.
  • Leadership & Branch Support Support the Branch Manager in daily operational leadership and serve as acting leader when needed.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management of drivers and delivery support staff.
  • Help facilitate cross‑department communication, problem‑solving, and operational planning Develop a comprehensive understanding of all branch functions to provide effective coverage during absences or peak activity.
