About The Position

East Haven Builders Supply, founded in 1960, provides building materials to customers across New York and Connecticut, including operating a wall panel and truss manufacturing facility. As a division of US LBM Holdings, LLC, it is part of a leading distributor of specialty building materials in the United States, with over 400 locations nationwide. The Delivery Helper is responsible for delivering materials to job sites, reporting shortages and claims to their supervisor, and assisting with the loading and storing of materials. This role offers potential for advancement into other positions within the Driver, Warehouse, and Yard functions.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Experience with delivery, material handling and/or warehouse required
• Ability to do basic math, read orders, writes instructions and complete forms
• Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees and supervisors using verbal and written skills
• Ability to deal constructively with conflict and recognize potential problems
• Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques
• Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g. Smartphone, GPS and other necessary business applications)

Responsibilities

• Organize and secure load
• Obtain approval on all loads from supervisor for proper count and conditions of load
• Assist in maintaining good housekeeping in yard and warehouse
• Deliver and unload materials to customer‘s satisfaction
• Follow guidelines from supervisor
• Provide excellent customer service
• Assist in unloading material returned for credit
• Relay messages sent by customers while on job
• Assist supervisor, other employees and other work areas, as assigned
• Assist driver in evaluating delivery site, noting potential hazards, obstacles, physical challenges, etc.; guide driver in maneuvering on and off customer’s property to avoid damage as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Comply with all policies and standards
• Adhere to Company’s commitment to workplace safety
• Participate in and complete assigned trainings
