Delivery Driver
About The Position
As a Delivery Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of goods to our customers. Your responsibilities will include loading and unloading items, navigating delivery routes using GPS or maps, and maintaining a professional demeanor while interacting with customers. You will be expected to adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations, conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, and report any issues or incidents promptly. The role requires excellent time management skills, physical stamina to handle the demands of the job, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. Requires overnight travel of up to 15% may be required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Commercial Driver License (CDL): A valid Class A CDL is essential, allowing operation of vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) exceeding 26,000 pounds and towing trailers or other vehicles with a GVWR of over 10,000 pounds.
- Clean Driving Record: A record free of major violations such as DUI/DWI, reckless driving, or multiple moving violations.
- Knowledge of and adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations regarding hours of service, vehicle maintenance, and safety inspections.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience as a Class A driver is often preferred, though some employers may provide training for new drivers.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects, sometimes up to 50 pounds or more, and perform tasks such as loading and unloading freight.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport, deliver, and relocate products and materials as directed by supervisor.
- Ensure proper loading and unloading of products and materials, adhering to security requirements.
- Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle as mandated.
- Promptly inform supervisor of any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Operate company vehicles in accordance with DOT regulations and local traffic laws, prioritizing safety.
- Maintain accurate driver logs as per DOT regulations.
- Keep the vehicle in good operational condition and cleanliness.
- Immediately report any accidents, citations, or incidents to the supervisor.
- Submit necessary reports and dispatch paperwork punctually.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, participate in mandatory safety meetings, and use personal protective equipment as necessary.
