About The Position

Founded in 1988, Food & Friends provides medically-tailored meals, nutrition support, and friendship to people living with AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses. Our team of seventy employees and thousands of volunteers delivers meals and hope to people living in the District of Columbia and multiple counties across Maryland and Virginia. There is no charge or income qualification for our services, which are rendered solely on the basis of medical need. Food & Friends is proud to be a nationally-recognized leader of the Food is Medicine movement. We seek a Delivery Driver. Daytime working hours. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who enjoys driving and helping others.

Requirements

driver’s license (CDL not required) and good driving record
working knowledge of traffic and highway laws and regulations
familiarity with the Washington region
good people skills
Must be able and willing to drive in a variety of weather conditions
ability lift 30 lbs.
to be physically mobile and able to grasp, stoop, walk, push, and climb stairs
Offer of employment contingent upon a background check and pre-employment drug test

Nice To Haves

Prior professional driving experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

load van with day’s deliveries
deliver meals and groceries to client homes throughout the Washington Metro region
offer a friendly greeting to clients, and report any changes in client living conditions
place gas in the vehicle, and report any maintenance issues
