About The Position

Empire Distributors Inc, A Leading Beverage Distributor is now hiring a Delivery Driver in our Augusta location. Summary Coordinates and plans delivery routes, and delivers products to service our customers.  Drives vehicle over established routes to deliver products.  Alters delivery schedule once in route to ensure total customer service for all accounts.  Distributes products at locations and ensures paperwork is complete and accurate.  Coordinates final collection of payment from each customer.  Verifies that products and inventories match.  Addresses customer comments and concerns. Seeks additional product orders from the customer and communicates information to appropriate sales representative.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a valid Class C driver’s license.
  • Must meet requirements to receive a Department of Transportation Card at the time of the physical examination.

Responsibilities

  • Drives truck to deliver such items as beer, wine, liquor, and point of sale items to customer's place of business.
  • Collects returnable items and empty containers from businesses and transports containers back to the distribution center for consolidation and shipment back to suppliers.
  • Inspects loads and ensures proper packing and security is in place in order to reduce product breakage and vehicle damage.
  • Conducts an inventory of truck contents.  Retrieves overages and accounts for shortages.
  • Reviews content of the truck to ensures vehicle is loaded correctly.  Checks the distribution of the weight and product on the vehicle to ensure it is safe and stable.
  • Collects and coordinates payments from customers and records transactions on customer receipt.
  • Records delivery information using provided delivery record.
  • Listens to and resolves service complaints.
  • Resolves issues when possible.
  • Coordinates customer comments and service issues with transportation management for proper resolution.
  • Issues or obtains customer signature on receipt for pickup or delivery.
  • Provides preventative maintenance and safety checks on their vehicle by conducting DOT regulated pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Management.
