About The Position

Northeast Automatic Sprinkler Company is a progressive fire protection subcontractor specializing in design, installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, service, and emergency service of automatic fire protection sprinkler systems. We currently have an opening in our busy fabrication shop for a Delivery Driver/Warehouse Associate. This position is full-time and involves making deliveries using a company truck or van, as well as work in our fabrication shop. Employees working in this position will make deliveries to various job sites, perform clean-outs, and pick up stock in Greater Boston and surrounding areas, as well as occasionally to Cape Cod, Rhode Island, and southern New Hampshire. In addition, employees in this position will be involved in putting together stock orders for deliveries, accepting shipments, unloading and organizing stock, loading trucks, fabricating pipe - ensuring all specifications and standards are met, operating a forklift, as well as other general warehouse duties as assigned, while following all company policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment. On most days, early-morning deliveries are required, with start times as early as 4:45-5:00 am, as most deliveries must be at the job site by 6:00 am, depending on the specific job. If no morning delivery is needed, the start time at the shop on those days will be 6:30 am. No CDL is required; however, a DOT card will be required by the end of the first week (the cost and time to obtain the DOT card will be paid by the company). We are willing to train the right person. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of dependability, a strong work ethic, and excellent references. Our shop is very busy and can be hectic at times. A successful employee in this position will be one who thrives in a fast-paced environment and demonstrates a sense of urgency in completing assigned tasks accurately. Experience with fabrication, warehouse work, a “hands-on type position”, as well as experience as a delivery driver and familiarity with the Greater Boston area, are all definite pluses. There will be some overtime based on the start time. We aim to finish by 2:30 pm, but we also occasionally work until 3:00 or later. There will be occasional opportunities for late afternoon/evening overtime as well as the morning (on days when we have late clean-outs or late-day emergencies in the city). We are a union fire protection contractor, and although this position is non-union, one of the many benefits this position has given employees in the past is experience working for a sprinkler contractor, and to become familiar with the materials and gain a basic understanding of sprinkler systems, as well as to see if the sprinkler fitter trade may be of interest to them. In fact, many of the employees who started at our shop have transitioned into apprenticeships with the Local 550 Sprinkler Fitters union over time. Our company offers a generous benefits package (once eligible), including paid holidays; PTO; health, dental, and vision insurance options; a 401(k) with a company match; EAP; and employer-paid group life, short-term disability, and long-term disability insurance.
