Hajoca operates in a decentralized environment, with each location (Profit Center) run like a small business under unique trade names. Hughes Supply HVAC, one such trade name, is seeking a Delivery Driver Non CDL for its Savannah, GA location. The role involves safely operating trucks, loading and unloading merchandise, ensuring order accuracy, handling shipping documents, collecting payments, resolving discrepancies with customers, and performing vehicle inspections.

Requirements

Be able to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs.
Be at least 21 years old
Possess a proper and valid driver’s license
Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy
Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and again at least every two years while employed and performing this job function

Responsibilities

Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations, delivering to job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, other Hajoca locations, facilities of other wholesalers, or other locations as directed by management.
Load the truck at the Profit Center with Hajoca merchandise to be delivered.
Secure the load properly so that nothing will shift, get damaged, or fall from the truck.
Ensure that the necessary equipment to safely unload the merchandise is available.
Understand the shipping documents that are associated with the merchandise for each delivery and have accurate directions to each delivery destination.
Review shipping documentation and ensure order accuracy.
Unload correct merchandise from the truck and place it where the receiving party wants it.
Obtain legible signature for all merchandise delivered per Company policy and procedure.
Collect and secure outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries prior to releasing the material to the customer.
Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately.
Load the truck at other locations with merchandise, including merchandise picked up at vendor locations, returned by customers, and purchased from other wholesalers.
Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses discovered in the course of making deliveries.
Inspect the truck and required parts and accessories to determine safe operating condition prior to departure from the Hajoca location.
Keep truck clean of debris in cab and body.
Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck.
Complete the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report when driving a delivery vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVWR) of 10,001 lbs. or more if a defect or deficiency is found.
At the end of the workday, remove keys from the truck and store keys in the approved location.
Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
