About The Position

As a CDL Delivery Driver, you will operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations. Your destinations will include job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, other Hajoca locations, and other locations as directed by management. You will load the truck with Hajoca merchandise, secure the load properly, and ensure that the necessary equipment for unloading is available. You will also review shipping documentation for accuracy, unload merchandise at delivery sites, and collect payments for cash sale deliveries. Additionally, you will inspect the truck for safe operating conditions, advise management of any mechanical problems, and complete required safety and compliance training programs.

Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Possess a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) for the vehicle(s) being driven.
  • Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver.
  • Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination.
  • Know the laws, rules, and regulations governing driving motor vehicles.
  • Be able to safely operate delivery vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 lbs. or more.
  • Know and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
  • Be able to build and maintain positive working relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Remain calm and function effectively in stressful situations.
  • Learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment.
  • Learn and operate the computer-related systems used in the delivery process.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Be able to perform basic arithmetic operations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Load the truck with Hajoca merchandise and secure the load properly.
  • Ensure necessary equipment for unloading is available.
  • Affix appropriate DOT hazmat truck placards if hauling hazardous materials.
  • Understand shipping documents and have accurate directions to delivery destinations.
  • Review shipping documentation and ensure order accuracy.
  • Unload correct merchandise and obtain legible signatures for deliveries.
  • Collect and secure outstanding payments for cash sale deliveries.
  • Resolve shipping discrepancies with customers at delivery sites.
  • Load the truck at other locations with merchandise.
  • Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses.
  • Inspect the truck and required parts for safe operating condition.
  • Complete the Driver's Daily Vehicle Inspection Report.
  • Remove keys from the truck and store them in the approved location.
  • Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned.
