The Delivery Captain at MarineMax is responsible for coordinating the activities related to the launching, retrieving, and servicing of boats, while also providing customer education on boat operation. This role requires a professional demeanor and strong product knowledge to ensure customer satisfaction and effective delivery of boats.

  • Coordinate the activities of customers and team members engaged in launching, retrieving, and servicing boats.
  • Drive boats to and from various dealerships and deliver boats to customers as requested.
  • Possess adequate product knowledge to answer customer questions.
  • Properly explain features and demonstrate operation of boats in the showroom or in water.
  • Demonstrate additional boating merchandise, such as aftermarket electronic communication and navigational equipment.
  • Work with the Business Manager to establish delivery dates and arrange for boat delivery to specified locations.
  • Service boats with fuel and assist in casting off and tying up boats.
  • Perform minor engine and systems repairs and adjustments as needed.
  • Load and unload fishing, ski, and propulsion equipment from boats.
  • Assist in moving boats in and out of the showroom.
  • Conduct periodic training classes to reinforce customers' boating passion.
  • Assist with set-up, organization, and tear down of Boat Shows and Offsite Events.
  • Show products in the showroom, at off-site events, and demonstrate boats on the water.
  • Professionally support customer events including Getaways.
  • Demonstrate advanced seamanship skills.
  • Complete all required training programs including MarineMax University.
  • Train sales staff on boat handling and safety.
  • Inspect company-owned vessels in water and keep a log of hours and fuel levels.
  • Complete minor preventative maintenance on company-owned boats on display in the water.
  • Assist service/customers with minor service issues to determine if operator error or product defect.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Mid-level experience in a similar role or industry.
  • Strong knowledge of boating and marine operations.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers.
  • Ability to drive boats and perform minor repairs and maintenance.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in conducting training classes or customer education.
  • Familiarity with electronic communication and navigational equipment.
  • Advanced seamanship skills.
