About The Position

As a Delicatessen Clerk at Hy-Vee, you will be responsible for handling food safely and maintaining a clean work area. Your role includes running department registers, receiving payments, and ensuring a positive company image through courteous and efficient customer service. You will work closely with customers and team members to enhance the shopping experience and ensure customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Less than high school education or equivalent experience.
• Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service.
• Greet customers in a friendly manner.
• Learn and address customers by name.
• Assist customers in locating products and loading/unloading heavy items.
• Take customer orders at the delicatessen counter.
• Work as a team with co-workers to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Review orders for the day and ensure proper sanitation procedures.
• Check the status and appearance of food for freshness.
• Prepare, finish, and replenish products as necessary.
• Run department registers and handle payments.
• Remove trash in a timely manner.
• Adhere to personal hygiene and dress guidelines.
• Report to work on time and as scheduled.
