The Deli Sales Associate at WEIS is responsible for maintaining well-stocked and appealing deli service areas to meet customer demands. This role involves providing excellent customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving concerns promptly and professionally. Key duties include ensuring the freshness, proper pricing, and correct signage of merchandise, rotating products, and handling spoiled or damaged items according to company procedures. The associate will operate slicing equipment for meats and cheeses, package items with accurate price, weight, and date labels, and prepare ready-to-eat foods to customer specifications, including platters of sliced meats, cheeses, and vegetable trays. Adherence to company recipes and safety policies for food preparation (e.g., chicken, pizza, sandwiches, salads) is essential. The position may also involve operating a cash register, following proper money handling procedures, and adhering to laws regarding tobacco and alcohol sales. General sanitation of the department, following cleaning schedules, and ensuring work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases meet health and OSHA requirements are critical. The associate assists in inventory control, minimizes losses through proper product handling and refrigeration, and may assist with baling cardboard or receiving/storing deliveries using power or hand jacks, with training provided. Cooperation with co-workers and superiors to ensure smooth department and store function, continuous job performance improvement, and utilization of company-provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE) are also expected. The position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.
