Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. or equivalent experience
  • 1 year of deli or restaurant experience
  • Current Food Handlers card
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers and co-workers
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to eight hours at a time
  • Ability to count U.S currency and make change
  • Ability to appear for work on time
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure
  • Ability to follow verbal directives and written instructions
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism
  • Ability to routinely lift up to thirty pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop, push and pull

Responsibilities

  • Provides customer service by acknowledging and welcoming customers as they approach the deli in a friendly and courteous manner, providing customers with information and assistance as needed, preparing customer orders according to established procedures and health and safety policies, entering customer purchases in point-of-sale system, collecting, counting and processing payments following established procedures, packaging, bagging or boxing purchases for customers, issuing refunds according to established procedures, and thanking customers for their business upon departure. - 40%
  • Maintains a clean and safe facility by following proper cleaning, sanitizing and servicing procedures for all equipment, storage, preparation and food contact surfaces, walls, floors and any additional assigned cleaning areas, following procedures for safe food handling, cleaning and storage, maintaining all Deli areas in a clean and organized manner, and observing health, regulatory and safety policies and procedures. - 30%
  • Prepares and maintains deli area for business by preparing assigned food and ingredient stations according to established procedures and health and safety policies prior to business hours, monitoring and replenishing ingredients as needed throughout the shift, and cleaning stations and storing food and ingredients according to established procedures and health and safety policies following the close of business. - 20%
  • Provides accounting of transactions by opening cashier station according to established procedure, ensuring opening drawer cash count is correct and adequate change is available, processing all transactions accurately, closing cashier station according to established procedure, calculating total cash payments received, balancing and reconciling closing drawer with cash sales, preparing cash and credit receipts for deposit, and reporting unresolved discrepancies to the Deli Assistant Manager or Store Manager. - 10%
