Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a focus on fast and friendly service.
  • Assist customers with product suggestions, special orders, and food preparation recommendations.
  • Engage in suggestive selling through telephone, in‑store intercom announcements, and one-on-one interactions.
  • Answer incoming calls and resolve customer complaints or escalate to the Store Director when necessary.
  • Possess full knowledge of duties performed by all department employees.
  • Oversee and assist with all food preparation, cooking, and serving activities.
  • Implement proper product preparation, cooking, and packaging techniques according to company standards.
  • Operate equipment including kitchen utensils, fryers, ovens (conventional, microwave, pizza), slicers, grills, food processors, wrappers, scales, printers, and pallet jacks.
  • Prepare sandwiches, salads, pizzas, hot and cold foods, and food/party trays per company specifications.
  • Maintain deli case cleanliness, visual appeal, and inventory levels.
  • Ensure the deli area, equipment, and workspace meet all cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards.
  • Monitor and maintain proper temperatures during preparation, display, and storage.
  • Ensure compliance with company code‑dating policies and enforce proper product rotation.
  • Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees to ensure proper coverage and service levels.
  • Train employees on store policies, sales practices, and record‑keeping procedures.
  • Identify and develop employees with high potential for advancement.
  • Monitor employee productivity and complete performance evaluations.
  • Understand and oversee department opening and closing procedures.
  • Initiate personnel actions such as interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary steps.
  • Plan daily operations and monitor production processes to ensure efficiency and profitability.
  • Prepare sales and inventory reports; participate in physical inventory every 4 weeks.
  • Control inventory levels to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness.
  • Stock, rotate, and maintain product in the cooler and sales floor.
  • Build displays and remove outdated or spoiled product.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal merchandising.
  • Operate and maintain salad bar and wing bar as needed.
  • Perform receiving duties, including breaking down loads, verifying invoices, inspecting product quality, and reporting shortages.
  • Ensure adherence to product temperature requirements, storage standards, and packaging guidelines.
  • Complete all administrative paperwork accurately and maintain required departmental records.
  • Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Follow all department standards and requirements, including handling of quick‑sale items.
  • Ensure a safe work environment by following all safety rules, cleaning standards, and sanitation requirements.
