Position Summary The Deli Manager is responsible for the daily operation of the deli department, ensuring high standards of food quality, customer service, food safety, and team performance. This role leads department associates, controls costs and labor, maintains merchandising standards, and drives sales while delivering an exceptional customer experience. Key Responsibilities Department Operations Oversee daily deli operations, including food preparation, production, merchandising, and sanitation Ensure all products meet quality, freshness, and presentation standards Maintain appropriate product levels through forecasting, ordering, and inventory control Manage shrink, waste, and department expenses to meet business goals Leadership & Team Development Hire, train, schedule, and develop deli associates Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and corrective action as needed Build a positive, accountable work environment focused on teamwork and customer service Ensure adequate staffing to meet business and service demands Customer Service Deliver excellent customer service by maintaining a clean, friendly, and well‑organized department Address customer concerns professionally and resolve issues promptly Promote deli offerings, specials, and prepared food programs Food Safety & Compliance Ensure strict adherence to all food safety, health, and sanitation regulations Maintain proper handling, storage, labeling, and temperature controls Complete required food safety logs, audits, and training Ensure associates follow all company policies and procedures Sales & Merchandising Execute planograms, promotions, and seasonal programs as directed Monitor sales trends and adjust production and displays to maximize freshness and sales Collaborate with store leadership to support overall store goals
