About The Position

The Deli Manager is responsible for the daily operation of the deli department, ensuring high standards of food quality, customer service, food safety, and team performance. This role leads department associates, controls costs and labor, maintains merchandising standards, and drives sales while delivering an exceptional customer experience. Pay Transparency: Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay, paid holidays, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis. For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.

Requirements

  • Previous deli, food service, or retail management experience preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and deli operations
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Comfortable working flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, and work in refrigerated environments as required

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily deli operations, including food preparation, production, merchandising, and sanitation
  • Ensure all products meet quality, freshness, and presentation standards
  • Maintain appropriate product levels through forecasting, ordering, and inventory control
  • Manage shrink, waste, and department expenses to meet business goals
  • Hire, train, schedule, and develop deli associates
  • Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and corrective action as needed
  • Build a positive, accountable work environment focused on teamwork and customer service
  • Ensure adequate staffing to meet business and service demands
  • Deliver excellent customer service by maintaining a clean, friendly, and well‑organized department
  • Address customer concerns professionally and resolve issues promptly
  • Promote deli offerings, specials, and prepared food programs
  • Ensure strict adherence to all food safety, health, and sanitation regulations
  • Maintain proper handling, storage, labeling, and temperature controls
  • Complete required food safety logs, audits, and training
  • Ensure associates follow all company policies and procedures
  • Execute planograms, promotions, and seasonal programs as directed
  • Monitor sales trends and adjust production and displays to maximize freshness and sales
  • Collaborate with store leadership to support overall store goals
