Deli Junior Associate
About The Position
As a Deli Junior Associate at Hansen’s IGA Market, the role focuses on providing exceptional customer service to all guests at the Deli counter and on the sales floor. Key duties include weighing, packaging, and pricing items from the deli cold. The Deli Junior Associate may also prepare the daily salad bar, various deli salads, dip selections, pizzas, and sandwiches/wraps based on pre-established recipes and production schedules. The associate will also assist in miscellaneous duties, such as filling the deli case and salad bar when low, maintaining and cleaning back coolers, rotating stock, and assisting the Deli Chef and Cook with minimal food preparation. Maintaining sanitation logs and ensuring a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety and sanitation regulations and procedures are also essential aspects of the position.
Requirements
- Must be a minimum of 15 years of age due to required operation of Deli equipment
- Eagerness to interact with customers
- Strong sense of team – ability to anticipate the needs of the team
- Ability to work at a fast paced and efficient manner
- Ability to take initiative and make decisions independently regarding department needs and priorities, under general supervision
- Excellent time management, prioritization and organization skills
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, push/pull for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
Responsibilities
- Model the Hansen’s IGA Market culture and providing “best in class” customer service, which includes, greeting, engaging, delighting and thanking every guest for their business
- Weigh, package, price and label Deli items
- Assist customers with answering questions and making recommendations
- Prepare salad bar items, various deli salads, pizzas, sandwiches/wraps, and dips according to the daily production schedule
- Assist with maintaining the back cooler including rotating stock, dating and cleaning
- Assist Deli Department with stocking, rotating and facing the Deli wall
- Assist Deli Chef and Cook with minimal food preparation
- Maintain sanitation logs as needed
- Operate, maintain and clean deli equipment including work areas and coolers
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and procedures
- Assist with all other Deli Department duties as needed
