About The Position

The Deli Cook position at Cosentino's Price Chopper is designed to produce, execute, and deliver outstanding prepared foods in terms of freshness, taste, quality, and presentation in a timely and efficient manner. The role involves assisting in all aspects of the deli to ensure that the Deli team meets the high standards of product and service that Cosentino's customers expect. This position formally reports to the Deli Manager and is classified as non-exempt.

Requirements

• Food handling permit must be obtained within the first 14 days of employment.
• Completion of ongoing training and development as per Cosentino's Learning Plan.
• Minimum of one year of previous cooking experience in a deli, bakery, catering, or banquet operation.
• Minimum of 6 months experience in a deli or food service production facility.
• Comprehensive understanding of food sanitation guidelines.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Develop daily, weekly, and seasonal menu items with the department manager.
• Practice appropriate portion control in deli production and service.
• Prepare foods in accordance with safety, health, and sanitation guidelines.
• Enforce quality control measures for all deli products.
• Supervise kitchen team members effectively and respectfully.
• Promote a positive team atmosphere with high morale and cooperation.
• Train and manage part-time cooks.
• Communicate resource needs clearly to team members.
• Manage inventory effectively and ensure proper product rotation.
• Answer customer questions accurately and courteously.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards.
• Promote department sales by suggesting additional products.
• Resolve customer complaints professionally.
• Implement Cosentino's Customer Service Standards.
• Operate, clean, and maintain all equipment safely.
• Ensure all Deli Programs are followed and maintained.
• Demonstrate basic math and reading skills.
