The Deli Clerk role involves slicing, packaging, weighing, and selling various deli products, including meats and cheeses. This position also requires maintaining the presentation and cleanliness of the deli, including display cases, and providing assistance to Members in the deli department. Additionally, the Deli Clerk should understand how to access and read departmental performance reporting and recognize the impact of consistent execution on the business.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age

Nice To Haves

• Work experience in a deli department preferred
• Prior experience operating manual/power slicers and scales preferred
• Knowledge of deli products preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide a high level of customer service to Members, answering questions and recommending deli items.
• Answer Member calls and take special orders.
• Slice, package, and weigh deli products, including cheeses and meats, and help Members select the correct products.
• Sample products to assist in purchasing decisions.
• Prepare and package special orders and party trays.
• Receive and inspect deli shipments.
• Display, stock, rotate, and store deli products following food safety, food freshness, and product handling policies and procedures.
• Ensure all products are fresh and meet company quality standards, checking for out-of-date products daily and following appropriate product salvage policies and procedures.
• Ensure deli cooler shelves and deli display cases have a wide variety of product and stock/rotate deli items when necessary.
• Operate and handle deli equipment in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
• Clean and sanitize deli equipment and food surfaces throughout the department, including rotisserie ovens, cooking utensils, refrigerated cases, and the deli cooler.
• Ensure scale systems are in working order and items are weighed and priced accurately.
• Maintain all club policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Deliver service excellence through all points of contact and resolve/deescalate member concerns.
• Work as a team to deliver GOLD club standards daily, ensuring all items are stocked, promotional plans executed, accurate signage maintained, and the club is clean and organized.
