About The Position

The Deli Clerk is responsible for preparing, slicing, packaging, and serving deli products such as meats, cheeses, salads, and hot foods. This role provides fast, friendly service while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and product presentation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous deli, food service, or retail experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
  • Strong attention to detail and food safety.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers and provide courteous, efficient service.
  • Slice, weigh, and package deli meats and cheeses according to customer specifications.
  • Prepare and display deli items such as salads, preparing rotisserie chicken, sandwiches, and hot foods.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of deli cases, prep areas, and equipment.
  • Monitor product freshness and quality, rotating stock as needed.
  • Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures.
  • Label and price products accurately.
  • Assist with inventory, receiving, and restocking deli items.
  • Answer customer questions about ingredients, preparation, and recommendations.
  • Follow all store policies and health department regulations.
