The Deli Clerk at Uwajimaya prioritizes excellent customer service by providing unparalleled interaction, product knowledge, and assistance in food preparation.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Minimum of a High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Basic math proficiency, familiarity with ten-key/calculator, and comfortable using computers.
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate varying shifts.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and proactively work independently.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior retail experience and knowledge of Asian products, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Greet customers warmly, assist with inquiries, and offer recommendations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing deli department.
  • Ensure adherence to health department and company policies to maintain a safe environment for both dining and workplace activities.
  • Take and fulfill customer orders while adhering to portion control guidelines.
  • Monitor and communicate low or attention-needed product levels to cooks.
  • Ensure accurate wrapping, labeling, pricing, logging, and dating of products; remove expired items.
  • Prepare and package deli food condiments for cold and hot cases.
  • Operate the cash register following Cashier Guidelines & Procedures, maintaining stocked supplies.
  • Continuously enhance product knowledge to improve customer service and satisfaction.
  • Other duties as assigned.
