About The Position

A Deli/Bakery Supervisor’s main duties include but are not limited to, supervising employees within the Deli/Bakery department to ensure the department is functioning safely, effectively and customer service is being provided at all times. Main duties include preparing, cooking, baking and serving customers in the Deli/Bakery Department. Responsible for phone orders, custom orders, serving customers, cleaning machinery and department and stocking when the inventory requires. May be responsible for checking materials and supplies and reporting when stock is low. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field. Works under immediate supervision of the grocery assistant manager and manager. Primary job functions may require exercising independent judgment. Abides by pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. The successful candidate will play a fundamental role in achieving our customer satisfaction and revenue growth objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Pleasantly deal with customers to ensure satisfaction.
  • Engages and maintains a professional working relationship with vendors which may include ordering and checking in the vendor at the time of delivery.
  • Directly supervises employees in the Deli/Bakery department.
  • Supervisory responsibilities include but are not limited to, following all organizational policies and procedures, training employees, planning, scheduling, assigning and directing tasks, disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Participate in the interview process of new applicants or the termination process of an employee.
  • Food preparation including but not limited to, frying, seasoning, and baking items.
  • Slice, weigh and wrap cold cuts and cheese products, print tags indicating weight, product, date, time and price.
  • Assemble and decorate cakes or bakery items per customer’s request.
  • Handling customer phone orders or custom requests with courtesy and professionalism.
  • Resolve customer complaints, guide them and provide relevant information.
  • Greet customers when entering or leaving department and provide answers to customer inquiries regarding Deli/Bakery items.
  • Serve customers in the Daily Hot Line and provide information if asked about the items offered.
  • Maintaining a clean department by performing the following tasks: Clean cold cut and cheese display case, wash dishes used to prepare Deli/Bakery items, organize and clean display shelves when needed, mop floors daily, clean department equipment such as slicers, scale, stove, mixer, etc.
  • Report mechanical problems with any equipment through the use of Work Order Forms.
  • Answer customers' questions and get a manager if answer doesn't solve the issue.
  • Receive, inspect and store Deli/Bakery products upon delivery.
