  • Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
  • Provide customers with fresh products they have ordered in the correct portion size.
  • Recommend bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
  • Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
  • Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
  • Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Adequately prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell by dates.
  • Keep cases full and fresh based on Bakery Standards.
  • Participate in ideas and development of sales in the cake and pastry area.
  • Answer customer or associate questions on the telephone or in person regarding cake decorating orders.
  • Communicate with the Bakery Manager on any needs for the cake area.
  • Keep track of inventory pertaining to cake or pastry including product needs and supplies.
  • Check to ensure the cake kit book is updated and kits are in stock.
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Understand the store's layout to assist customers in locating products.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and logs are kept.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs needed.
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents and report safety risks or illegal activities.
