About The Position

The Deli Attendant at Presque Isle Downs & Casino is responsible for providing excellent customer service while handling cash transactions and preparing food items in a fast-paced environment. The role requires basic culinary knowledge, sanitation skills, and the ability to work under pressure. The Deli Attendant will also maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

Requirements

• Excellent cash handling skills including cash, credit cards, and vouchers.
• Basic kitchen knowledge and understanding of culinary terms.
• Mechanical skills and knowledge of basic kitchen tools such as knives, ovens, and grills.
• Understanding of sanitation skills and ability to sanitize kitchen equipment and utensils.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to customer service.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Handle cash, voucher, and credit card transactions efficiently while maintaining PCI compliance.
• Prepare and cook food items to order, including broiling, sautéing, frying, boiling, steaming, baking, and grilling.
• Replenish guest-facing supplies such as salt, pepper, and condiments.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and proper presentation of food lines.
• Take and record temperatures to comply with health code requirements.
• Follow procedures to ensure food and personal safety.
• Alert supervisors of any equipment failures or maintenance needs immediately.
• Complete entry-level kitchen duties, including cleaning and paring vegetables.
• Maintain a positive and polite demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
