We are seeking a customer-focused Deli Associate to join our retail food service team. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, taking and preparing food orders, slicing, weighing, and portioning deli products, and maintaining food safety and sanitation standards. Requirements

  • At least 18 years old
  • Detailed oriented, attentive, and precise, able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable talking to people.
  • Able to work well with others as a team.
  • Reliable transportation
  • Non-slip shoes are mandatory for a safe working environment (please note that company does not provide).
  • Wear cutting gloves at all times when operating knives, slicers, or other sharp tools.
  • Complies with hand washing standards and uses disposable gloves when handling food.
  • Able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Capable of regularly lifting and/or pushing or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to maintain physical balance and stability while performing tasks.
  • Proficient in both gross and fine manipulation.
  • Capable of reaching below or at the waist and overhead.
  • Effective speaking skills to convey instructions and communicate with coworkers clearly and accurately, especially in a loud or busy environment.
  • Peripheral vision and near and far visual acuity are essential.
  • Able to work in various temperatures, including hot, humid, and cold environments, as well as tolerate moderate amounts of dust and cleaning agents.
  • Must be able to work with a wide variety of fresh products without experiencing negative allergic reactions.
  • Stamina to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment,often under pressure and during busy periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and move around the department as needed.
  • Ability to utilize a step-stool or a ladder.
  • Able to work in an environment with exposure to smoke and steam.
  • Ability to hear and respond to inquiries and instructions effectively in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides customers with premier customer service, taking orders, weighing, and portioning food items.
  • Prepares, packages, and serves Deli products to customers for sale.
  • Ability to operate the equipment as required by the department, (i.e., slicer, scale, can opener, wrapping machine, rotisserie, fryolator, case cutter, and stove/oven).
  • Always operates equipment with all safeguards in place and in good operating condition. Observes safe methods of performing all duties.
  • Follows approved procedures for receiving, code dating, preparing, storing, and price marking, arranging and restocking products to ensure quality, accuracy, and product rotation and protection.
  • Replenishes Deli products as needed.
  • Handles damaged and spoiled products according to store policy and assists in controlling the level of damaged goods.
  • Monitors refrigeration equipment for proper performance regularly; reports any failure immediately.
  • Adheres to all local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Maintains department sanitation and quality standards by cleaning and sanitizing all work surfaces, utensils, and equipment. Keeps floor clear of debris and spills.
  • Removes trash to designated area.
  • Monitors inventory of cleaning supplies and sanitizing chemicals; informs manager when supply levels are low in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Meets all work schedules and complies with all time and attendance policies.
  • Maintains a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times according to company policy to include uniform, name badge, and a hat or hair restraint.
  • Must adhere to company uniform guidelines, including wearing long pants and closed-toed shoe.
