The Office of the Registrar provides leadership and service in student enrollment and academic record management that supports recruitment, retention, and graduation goals of Colorado State University. Position Summary Full Consideration Date: 03/18/2026 Degree Analysts play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy of students’ academic records and supporting their successful graduation from Colorado State University. The position focuses on assessing complex situations, analyzing data, solving problems, and collaborating closely with academic departments. Each Degree Analyst serves as the primary liaison for assigned colleges and departments and evaluates domestic and international undergraduate transfer coursework to determine appropriate credit and course equivalencies. Degree Analysts review individual student records to monitor degree progress, provide guidance on options for meeting program requirements, and ensure evaluations and degree completion decisions are fair, consistent, and aligned with university policy. Transfer and degree analyses require holistic review, conceptual comparison of coursework, and professional judgment to accurately reflect academic content and rigor. This role also serves as a liaison to specialized populations and campus partners, including Athletics (student-athlete transfer evaluations), the Graduate School, CSU Online, Honors programs, and the Transfer Student Center. Degree Analysts collaborate with academic departments to support appropriate use of course substitutions and waivers and contribute to unit and campus initiatives through cross-training, committee participation, professional development, and additional duties as assigned. Successful candidates are comfortable navigating complex academic issues, applying policy with judgment, and collaborating across the university, while demonstrating a strong commitment to accuracy, excellence, and team-based problem solving.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education in the liberal arts, sciences, business or related field that emphasizes analysis and critical thinking
  • Minimum one year experience at an institution of higher education
  • One year of customer service experience

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience with domestic post-secondary evaluation of credit.
  • Experience at a large research university working with a complex mix of programs of study.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and relevant ability with culturally diverse communities among potential target and constituent populations.
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience working with administrative student information systems: preferably Ellucian Banner systems (Banner Student, Banner Document Management and Banner Workflow) and College Source products: TES, uAchieve (Degree Audit Reporting System), and Transferology.
  • Experience providing presentations and trainings to groups of faculty, staff, and students.
  • Problem-solving ability and creativity when working with undergraduate student populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage campus departments in a collaborative approach to enhance student success.
  • Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal, presentation, writing skills and strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Independently evaluate and award undergraduate transfer credit by researching, analyzing, coding, and determining credit amounts and course equivalencies using TES, institutional guidelines, catalogs, AACRAO standards, and other resources; assess course content and academic rigor against the CSU catalog to assign direct or elective credit, apply appropriate conversion factors, and work one-on-one with students and departments to identify the best equivalency options affecting class standing and time to graduation.
  • Collaborate with academic departments and apply institutional policies to resolve complex transfer credit cases by determining upper-division and uncommon course equivalencies, reviewing syllabi and degree audit data, reducing duplicate credit, performing revaluations for direct or elective credit, preparing and communicating transfer evaluations for prospective students and student-athletes, and accurately encoding AP/IB credit to ensure equitable, policy-compliant outcomes approved by the Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Affairs.
  • Advise and support students and academic departments in resolving complex academic and graduation issues by evaluating deficient requirements, analyzing options, recommending coursework, substitutions, waivers, or appeals (AUCC/graduation), and guiding students and advisors through institutional processes using professional judgment and policy expertise.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and liaison for transfer and degree progress systems by providing guidance on degree audit, Transferology, graduation requirements and contracts; responding to inquiries from students, faculty, staff, and families; partnering with University Programs on student record issues; and representing CSU at transfer fairs and outreach events.
  • Review student records to ensure graduation requirements are met, provide guidance for timely completion, process exceptions, and coordinate with students, advisors, and departments.
  • Manage graduation term assignments in the Student Information System, ensuring degree audits and portals accurately reflect students’ anticipated graduation.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert by developing and presenting professional development sessions, manage Honors Program designations, and confirm degree verifications.
  • Work nights, weekends, and select holidays, as required, to support time-sensitive NCAA Transfer Portal processes and ensure compliance with transfer and eligibility timelines.
  • Other related duties.
