About The Position

SUMMARY: The deficiency collector position is responsible for planning a course of action to recover outstanding payments, negotiate payoff deadlines, settlements, and payment plans. This position will also be responsible for legal assessments based on account balance, risk, and overall collectability. Assessments will include recommending replevins, judgements, and wage garnishments in order to maximize potential recoveries on past due accounts. The role is also responsible for servicing and collecting on auto loan accounts that impact delinquency and documenting all collection activities utilizing loan servicing software

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years collections experience
  • Experience with post-charge off deficiency accounts preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform periodic review of eligible accounts that require deficiency letters
  • Prepare legal documents
  • Perform skip work to locate viable assets
  • Review Charge Off Deficiency campaign to determine next steps based on strategy
  • Negotiate payment arrangements with borrowers, including offering suggestions as to how they can meet their obligations, propose alternative payment methods, and establish payment procedures
  • Maintain satisfactory work efforts on multiple queues based on specified requirements
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)
  • Provide excellent customer service to customers
  • Meet or exceed defined department goals and metrics
